S-A-B is a double-sided openable barrier in capacity class H2. S-A-B is from our supplier Snoline. With S-A-B it can be accomplished long openings. The “open” sections also constitute guidance and shutdown for the part not be served.
It is becoming more and more common that in Sweden we install different types of barriers in the center of the road to reduce the risk of collisions. On roads with heavy traffic volume, it has been the standard for decades. For several reasons, we have also arranged openings in these barriers between the carriageways. Not only the needs by to the road authority over management openings to make a practical and safe way bypass traffic in conjunction with comprehensive operation and maintenance work, but also for road accidents, they may be of use. Permanent openings has unfortunately also resulted in a number of accidents, partly because they used the wrong way and the road user made an illegal U-turns, but also clean accidents where a continuous barrier would have saved lives.

The present-day systems with barriers may possibly prevent U-turns but nothing stops the vehicle by accident or deliberately want to run through.
